What is Goodwood Revival?

Goodwood Revival is a full-scale celebration of historic motor racing and the culture surrounding the circuit's original 1948–1966 era. Period race cars and motorcycles compete on the classic Motor Circuit, while vintage fashion, live entertainment, aviation displays, shops, food and theatrical details turn the site into something much bigger than an ordinary race meeting.

The event attracts visitors from across Britain and overseas, including people arriving through Gatwick and Heathrow. That makes travel planning especially important: the same roads are being used by event traffic, local residents, hotel guests and people continuing to airports or stations.

What is new for Goodwood Revival 2026?

La Dolce Vita

The 2026 theme brings Italian style, design and atmosphere into the Revival weekend, adding a distinctive new layer to its established 1940s, 1950s and 1960s character.

Historic racing

Grand Prix cars, sports racers and touring cars return to the circuit's original layout, driven by leading names from historic and modern motorsport.

Legends remembered

The programme includes tributes to Barry Sheene, 50 years after his first world title, and Sir Jack Brabham, 60 years after his third Formula One World Championship.

More than cars

Historic flyovers, the Spirit of Aviation display, live music, vintage shopping, a funfair, cinema and Sunday closing celebrations extend the experience beyond the racing.

Jenson Button is among the prominent drivers highlighted for 2026. Goodwood describes a full day of entertainment, including extensive on-track action, but visitors should use the official timetable for the programme on their chosen date.

How to get to Goodwood Revival 2026

BY TRAIN

Travel to Chichester Station

Chichester is the nearest main railway station. National Rail says the event shuttle is scheduled between the station and Goodwood from 07:00 to 22:00 on Friday and Saturday, and from 07:00 to 21:00 on Sunday. Check live trains and final shuttle arrangements before travel.

BY CAR

Use the A27 and event signs

Goodwood advises visitors approaching from Brighton or Southampton to use the A27 towards Chichester and then follow the temporary event signs. Avoid relying on an old saved route once local traffic management is operating.

PARKING

Free field parking

Official visitor parking is free and is due to open from 07:00 each day. Parking is on grass, so choose footwear for the weather. Overnight parking is not permitted and dedicated event-car-park EV charging is not available.

TAXI / PRIVATE HIRE

Pre-book both directions

Agree the event drop-off or collection point in advance and follow marshal instructions on the day. At closing time, crowds, temporary routing and weak mobile signal can make an unplanned pickup difficult.

Travel from Brighton, Gatwick, Heathrow and Sussex

A27

Brighton and Hove

The usual road journey heads west towards Chichester on the A27. Event traffic can build near the final approaches, so leave more time than a normal Brighton-to-Chichester trip and check Sussex live traffic before departure.

LGW

Gatwick Airport

A road transfer will normally connect from the M23/A23 corridor towards the A27. Build in time for baggage collection and event congestion. For an arriving flight, give the operator the flight number and correct terminal when booking a Gatwick Airport taxi.

LHR

Heathrow Airport

The best route can change with conditions on the M25, A3 and surrounding network. A pre-booked Heathrow Airport transfer should include the terminal, flight details, luggage and event or hotel destination.

WS

Worthing and West Sussex

The A27 is the main corridor for many journeys towards Chichester. Allow for slower traffic near Arundel and the Goodwood approaches, especially around opening and closing periods. See our Worthing taxi service.

Goodwood Revival traffic: what to expect

The most important point is that a normal journey-time estimate is not an event-day promise. Traffic can concentrate around the A27, Chichester and the smaller roads leading towards the Motor Circuit. Temporary signs, parking flows and marshal directions may also change the final approach.

Allow a meaningful buffer for booked entry, hospitality, trains, flights and restaurant reservations. For the return journey, agree a realistic collection window rather than arranging a pickup at the exact moment the final activity ends.

A practical arrival and pickup plan

Save the booking details: Keep your driver or operator contact information accessible.
Name one group contact: Large parties should nominate one person to coordinate collection.
Share the correct gate: Use the current event signage and an identifiable meeting point.
Add a time buffer: Crowds may take longer to leave than expected after the programme finishes.
Charge your phone: Take a power bank and do not depend on a nearly empty battery at collection time.
Plan for poor weather: Grass parking and outdoor walking areas can become wet or uneven.

Tickets, children and what to wear

Ticket availability changes as the event approaches, so buy only through Goodwood or an authorised provider and check the exact access included. The official guidance says children aged 12 and under still need an admission ticket and must be accompanied by an adult. Young-person pricing is available for ages 13–21, subject to the event's current terms and availability.

Period dress is strongly associated with the Revival but is not compulsory for general admission. Many visitors choose 1940s, 1950s or 1960s clothing to become part of the atmosphere. Central Paddock access has additional dress expectations. Replica weapons are prohibited, and entrance bag checks may operate.

Whatever style you choose, practical footwear matters. The site involves walking and parking areas are on grass. Check the Chichester weather forecast and bring layers or waterproofs when needed.

Booking a taxi for Goodwood Revival

Sussex Airports Taxis provides pre-booked private-hire journeys for individuals, families and groups travelling between Sussex, airports, stations, hotels and events. Availability is limited during major weekends, so early booking is sensible.

  • Airport pickups with flight monitoring when flight details are supplied
  • Brighton, Hove, Lewes, Worthing and wider Sussex journeys
  • Saloon, estate, executive, MPV and 8-seater options, subject to availability
  • Passenger and luggage planning before the journey
  • Pre-arranged drop-off and return collection details
