Source: TomTom. Summaries count reports tagged with the exact road number within this map’s coverage window, which includes nearby border roads. Several reports can describe different sections of one event. No matching reports does not confirm a clear road. For nearby junctions and connecting roads, use the main search. FOR EVERYDAY SUSSEX JOURNEYS
You do not need to be booking a taxi to use this page. Check conditions before a local journey in Brighton, Hove, Lewes, Worthing, Crawley, Horsham, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Hassocks, Eastbourne or Chichester. Search the town and, if results are sparse, try the road number or a nearby junction. Not every report includes a town name.
For a fixed appointment or train connection, check the roads around your destination as well as your starting point. A delay shown for one incident is not a complete journey estimate, and several delays should not simply be added together. Do not use this page while driving.
LEAVE ROOM FOR THE UNEXPECTED
For Gatwick, check the local pickup area and your approach to the airport, including the A23 and M23 where they form part of your route. Confirm the terminal and plan your departure around your airline’s check-in and bag-drop requirements. If conditions change, speak to your taxi operator about the pickup time; a live traffic map cannot guarantee an arrival time.
Heathrow lies outside Sussex. This map can help you check the Sussex part of the journey, but you should also check the full route, including any motorway sections beyond this view. Gatwick airport taxi information and Heathrow airport taxi information explain our transfer services.
CLEAR ABOUT THE DATA
Road colours show relative traffic flow. Incident reports describe disruptions such as closures, accidents, roadworks and congestion. A road may have a report without a delay estimate, or coloured traffic flow without an incident report.
“Checked” is the last successful data retrieval. “Started” is the incident start time supplied by TomTom. “Last report”, where available, is the source’s report time. All displayed times use UK local time.
The current map window is centred on Sussex and includes nearby border roads. It is not a complete national traffic map or a route planner. Reports can cover individual road sections, so report counts are not necessarily counts of unique events.
TomTom supplies the data. Sussex Airports Taxis publishes this travel guide and does not independently verify every incident. Missing information does not prove a road is open, and estimated end times can change.
QUICK ANSWERS
Use the Road closures filter in the live reports above, then search a road number or place. Open a report to check its location and timing. TomTom coverage can be incomplete, so confirm planned restrictions with the relevant highway authority.
Search A23 in the report finder and select Accidents or Severe delays. Check the location and direction in each report before deciding whether it affects your journey. No matching report does not prove that the A23 is clear.
The page checks incident data when it opens and then every five minutes while the tab is visible. The displayed time is when this page last successfully received the data, not when every incident began. Traffic flow tiles load when you open the map.
Green indicates relatively free-flowing traffic, amber slower movement and red congestion. Severity describes the impact reported by TomTom. A road closure may have no severity or delay estimate. Missing colour or missing reports do not confirm that a road is open.
An expected end time, when supplied, is an estimate and can change. Check official updates for confirmed reopening information. This page does not independently verify incidents, reopening times or the safety of a diversion.
Use this Sussex traffic view for local approaches and the A23 and M23 corridor towards Gatwick. Check your complete route separately for an airport journey, especially to Heathrow, which lies outside this map. Allow extra time and follow your airline’s arrival guidance.
TomTom supplies the traffic flow and incident data. Sussex Airports Taxis presents it as a travel planning aid for residents, visitors and passengers. It is not an official highway authority bulletin or a complete record of every disruption.
This page displays traffic reports and does not accept emergency or hazard reports. Contact the relevant road authority using the official links below. If there is an immediate danger or an emergency, call 999 when it is safe to do so.
CHECK WITH THE ROAD AUTHORITY
Use these official sources for planned works, restrictions and local highway advice. This page supplements those services; it does not replace road signs, official notices or emergency advice.
