Start from the right place

Brighton to Newhaven Ferry Port and Sussex connections

Brighton & Hove

Pre-book from homes, hotels, stations and agreed addresses. Give us your full pickup, sailing date and check-in instructions so the road journey can be planned.

Lewes, Seaford & nearby towns

Arrange a private connection from Lewes, Seaford, Peacehaven or another Sussex address. Add extra stops before confirming the fare.

Gatwick & Heathrow

Airport-to-ferry connections need time for flight delays, immigration, bags and the onward drive. Provide both the flight and ferry details before booking.

Know the terminal

Newhaven passenger terminal

Newhaven Ferry Port
Rail Approach, Newhaven
East Sussex, BN9 0DF

Use the address and current access instructions in your ferry confirmation. Tell us you are a foot passenger so the transfer is planned for the passenger terminal, rather than a vehicle boarding lane.

Travelling to Dieppe without a car?

DFDS accepts foot passengers on Newhaven–Dieppe. Passengers check in at the terminal and follow the ferry operator’s boarding arrangements. Our taxi service covers your road journey on the UK side; it does not include the crossing.

Keep your booking confirmation and travel documents ready, and check luggage rules directly with DFDS.

Check-in is earlier than sailing

Plan backwards from your ferry deadline.

DFDS publishes a check-in closure of 45 minutes before departure for Newhaven–Dieppe and advises extra time in busy periods. Your own booking instructions take priority. Do not aim to arrive just as check-in closes.

01

Check your confirmation

Use the correct sailing date, local departure time and arrival instructions. Timetables and requirements may change.

02

Allow for the road

Include your full Sussex address and extra collections. Traffic, weather and roadworks can extend the journey, so allow a sensible buffer.

03

Keep updates available

Check DFDS travel updates and tell us promptly about a changed or cancelled sailing. A ferry change does not automatically update your taxi.

The journey after the crossing

Newhaven Ferry Port pickups and return transfers

Give us the sailing arriving from Dieppe, arrival date, mobile number and onward address. Agree the pickup point and collection time in advance. Leaving the ship, retrieving bags and completing entry checks all take time after docking.

After you arrive

Keep your phone switched on and follow your confirmation and driver messages for the agreed meeting point. Tell us if your exit from the terminal is taking longer than expected.

Book both road journeys

Add the outward and return legs with their own dates, times and addresses. Check the full return quote, including night travel or extra stops, before confirming.

Changes and cancellation

Contact us promptly about a delayed or changed sailing. We normally cancel and refund with at least 24 hours’ notice unless your confirmation states otherwise. Late cancellation, dispatched vehicles, extended waiting and journey changes may incur charges.
