Independent guide by Sussex Airports Taxis

Pay Gatwick
drop-off charge.

The official payment link, current charges, deadlines, exemptions and practical help. Find what you need without searching through several airport pages.

Pay on the official Gatwick portal

You will leave this website. We are an independent taxi company, not Gatwick Airport or its payment operator. Sussex Airports Taxis does not collect or process airport drop-off payments.

Portal unavailable? Open official Gatwick guidance.
Pay after your visit

Three steps. One less thing to remember.

Leave the drop-off zone

Pay after exiting so the ANPR system can identify the completed visit and calculate the session charge.

Search your number plate

Open the official portal and enter the correct vehicle registration. Check the visit and amount before paying.

Complete payment

Follow the portal instructions and keep the confirmation. Enter financial details only on the official payment service, never on this guide.

Not a rolling 24-hour deadline. A Monday visit must be paid by the end of Tuesday, using the local UK date and time.

Official payment timing guidance

Gatwick drop-off charges

Know the fee before you go.

The designated terminal forecourts are charged drop-off areas, not free parking.

£10 First 10 minutes
£1 Per extra minute, within tariff limits
£30 Published maximum daily charge
30 min Maximum permitted stay

The published additional-minute tariff refers to a 20-minute limit. Check the official tariff and calculated session total; the daily charge cap does not permit an all-day stay. View official charges .

Other payment options

Occasional visit or regular drop-off?

Official automated phone payment

Prefer to pay by phone? Use the airport payment line, not the Sussex taxi booking number.

AutoPay for future visits

Register before entering the zone. Creating an account afterwards does not settle an earlier visit; pay that separately online or by phone.

Plan before travelling

Exemptions and a free alternative.

Blue Badge passengers

An approved exemption provides a free 30-minute drop-off session. Advance registration is required for each visit.

  • Apply from three months ahead until the day before travel.
  • Register the actual vehicle, including a taxi if applicable.
  • Keep the approval email. A vehicle change needs a new application.
  • Disable AutoPay for the exempt visit, as Gatwick advises.

Same-day or retrospective applications may not be accepted. Read the conditions .

Long Stay instead of the forecourt

Gatwick offers up to two hours free in Long Stay, with a free terminal shuttle. Allow time for the bus; parking charges apply beyond the free period.

View official Long Stay information ↗

This is a separate car park option, not two free hours in the terminal drop-off zone.

North and South Terminal

Use the designated drop-off area.

North Terminal

The drop-off zone is on the lower level, between the Sofitel and multi-storey car park. Follow airport signs and use the marked drop-off bays.

South Terminal

The drop-off zone is on the lower level. Follow the Drop Off signs rather than entering a different parking product.

Avoid paying the wrong thing

Three charges. Three different routes.

Terminal drop-off fee

For a visit to a designated terminal forecourt. Use the official drop-off payment service.

Car park payment

Parking products have separate arrangements. Paying a car park charge does not establish that a separate forecourt visit has been paid.

Parking Charge Notice

A PCN has its own reference, deadlines and appeal route. Follow the notice, not the ordinary drop-off payment process.

Open PCN payment and appeals ↗
Missed payment or received a notice?

A PCN is a separate process.

Gatwick terms specify a £100 Parking Charge Notice, reduced to £60 when paid within 14 days of issue. The £100 amount applies within 28 days; further fees may follow.

Follow the notice for payment or appeal. Do not assume a late ordinary drop-off payment cancels a PCN.

Keep the forecourt moving

Drop off, do not wait.

Follow signs and marked bays, keep the number plate readable, and do not leave the vehicle unattended. Red routes are not alternative drop-off points.

For a terminal pickup or longer goodbye, use appropriate parking rather than waiting on the drop-off forecourt.

Something went wrong? Start here.

Choose the situation that matches your visit. These practical checks are guidance, not a guarantee of a refund or cancelled Parking Charge Notice.

The portal cannot find my vehicle or visit

Check the registration against the vehicle and make sure you have already exited. If the visit still cannot be found, use the official phone payment option or contact Times24. Keep a record of the error and payment attempts. A missing search result does not establish that nothing is due.

I paid using the wrong vehicle registration

Do not assume the correct vehicle is covered. Contact the operator with both registrations, the visit date and payment reference. Ask how to resolve the actual visit before its deadline. A correction or refund is not automatic.

I paid twice or need a refund

Gather the payment references and proof of payment. Use the Times24 refund form. A request is not an approved refund. Times24 advises against duplicate submissions when a request is already in progress.

I need a receipt for business expenses

Use the official receipt request form. Have the registration, visit date, location, amount and proof of payment ready. Sussex Airports Taxis cannot issue a receipt for payments made directly to the airport operator.

My bank shows a payment but I have no confirmation

Check your email and payment records before paying again. A pending bank transaction alone may not confirm that the correct visit has been settled. Ask the operator to check the payment. Never share a full card number, security code or banking password in a support enquiry.

The deadline passed but no PCN has arrived

Contact the operator promptly for instructions. Do not assume a late payment prevents enforcement or that no letter means the matter is closed. If a notice arrives, follow its process and keep evidence of any payment already made.

I paid but still received a PCN

Compare the notice with your confirmation: registration, date, location and payment time. Follow the notice and submit relevant evidence through the official appeal route. Do not ignore it or assume an appeal has been accepted without confirmation.

I used a hire car, company vehicle or borrowed car

Use the registration of the vehicle that entered the zone. Confirm who is arranging payment rather than assuming the owner will handle it. Check your hire or company agreement for separate administration arrangements. Returning a rental vehicle is different from using a passenger drop-off forecourt.

I entered the drop-off zone more than once

Times24 states that payment is required for each entry. Check that every visit has been accounted for. One payment is not an unlimited daily pass, and the daily cap does not remove the maximum stay or other forecourt conditions.

I have AutoPay but cannot confirm this visit was paid

Check the registered vehicle and payment record for the actual visit. An account created afterwards does not automatically settle an earlier visit. If unclear, contact the operator rather than assuming payment succeeded or paying twice without checking.

My Blue Badge exemption was approved but the vehicle changed

Approval applies to the registered vehicle for the specified visit. Gatwick requires a new application when vehicle details change. Confirm approval for the replacement before travelling; the previous exemption does not transfer automatically.

Can I pay cash or use Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal?

Use the methods offered by the actual drop-off payment service. This guide does not promise that a particular wallet or cash payment is accepted. Logos elsewhere on an airport website may relate to other products.

My vehicle has a non-UK registration

Do not assume a foreign plate is exempt. If the portal cannot process it, contact the official operator for payment instructions. We have not verified a separate procedure for every registration format. Do not enter a substitute or invented UK plate.

Special access arrangements

Working at Gatwick is a separate case.

Airport staff and contractors

Airport ID pass holders may apply for work-related access, subject to conditions. Contractors should use the relevant permit process. Working at the airport is not, by itself, proof that a particular vehicle or visit is approved.

Local Commuter Scheme

Published terms restrict access to the South Terminal forecourt and limit visits and registered vehicles. It is not a general North Terminal exemption.

The terms include a price dated March 2021. We do not present that historic figure as a confirmed current price. Check eligibility, cost and availability with the operator.

Before you travel

A few important distinctions.

Does Sussex Airports Taxis take this payment?

No. This is an independent guide. Payment buttons open the official airport service in a new tab. We do not request your card or vehicle details here.

Can a Blue Badge passenger arriving by taxi apply?

Yes, with advance approval for the actual taxi registration. Ask the taxi company for vehicle details before applying and retain the confirmation email. Check arrangements early rather than assuming the vehicle details will be available at the last minute.

Does a taxi driver holding a Blue Badge get automatic exemption?

No blanket commercial exemption should be assumed. Gatwick terms specifically address a Blue Badge driver dropping off a passenger as part of a commercial transaction. Passenger exemption arrangements must meet the applicable registration and approval conditions.

Is a taxi fare the same thing as an airport drop-off payment?

No. A taxi booking and a payment to the airport operator are different transactions. Check the booking terms for what your fare includes. Do not make a separate payment for a taxi vehicle without first confirming who is handling that visit.

Payment support, without the runaround.

Have your registration, visit date, terminal and payment reference ready. Send personal evidence only through official support channels, not to this guide.

Protect your payment details. Start from the official Gatwick website or verified links. Check the destination before entering financial information. Sussex Airports Taxis does not need your card details to help you find airport payment information.
