If you or a friend needs help
Brighton & Hove's current licensing policy states that the city-centre Safe Space operates from St Paul's Church on West Street on Friday and Saturday nights, currently listed as 11:30pm to 4am. It supports people who are vulnerable through alcohol, drugs, injury or emotional distress. Operating details can change, so use the council link below for the latest information.
- Immediate danger, serious illness or suspected overdose: call 999.
- If you suspect drink spiking: tell venue staff immediately, stay with a trusted person, seek medical help and preserve the drink if safe to do so.
- If someone is missing: check the agreed meeting point, contact venue security, then contact police if there is genuine concern.
- Near the sea: do not enter the water after drinking. Keep away from unlit beach areas and the water's edge.
Group, student and visitor checklist
- Share the booking confirmation with at least one other person.
- Set a group meeting point before entering the venue.
- Do not rely on a nearly empty phone battery for the journey home.
